Biography

I am a Ph.D. candidate in Public Policy, specializing in Science and Technology Policy at the Georgia Institute of Technology. My research investigates how policy, incentives, and social networks influence the scientific and technological outcomes of researchers and inventors, as well as the societal impacts of such activities. A significant aspect of my work involves developing AI and ML methodologies to extract and analyze value promises from patent text and examining their role in patent drafting, prosecution, valuation, and orientation.

Additionally, I have worked for over six years as a consultant with organizations such as the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, and Technopolis Group where I have examined the drivers of business innovation and its impacts. For example, how market competition, taxation, and entrepreneurial ecosystems influence firms’ innovation activities. My work has also explored the effects of business innovation on the exports of knowledge-intensive business services (KIBS) and the gender disparities within KIBS sectors. I have also investigated how productive development policies contribute to increased tax collection.

I have taught introductory economics courses for undergraduate and graduate students for eight semesters at Universidad Nacional de Colombia (15’ and 16’) and Universidad del Rosario (17’, 18’, 19’, 20’).
